Configuring Gateway 2.0 IP Address using different IP Subnets (KB1380)

Configuring Gateway 2.0 IP Address using different IP Subnets

The default setting for the Gateway 2.0 doesn’t allow you to set the IP Gateway IP address.

The Gateway 2.0 doesn’t require the IP Gateway IP address if the Gateway 2.0 and LumInsight DT (LDT) PC are on the same IP subnet.  For most dealerships the Gateway 2.0 and LDT PC are on the same IP subnet so you don’t need to configure the IP Gateway IP address in the Gateway 2.0 Web pages.

This document describes how to configure the IP Gateway IP address in the Gateway 2.0 when needed.

For example:
1. PC IP address = 192.168.0.10, and Gateway 2.0 IP address = 192.168.0.192
  - Both use the same subnet (192.168.0.x) so you don’t need to set the IP Gateway IP address in the Gateway 2.0
  - You only need to modify the Interfaces > Main Ethernet Web page
      - Instructions in Gateway 2.0 End Users Network Configuration Manual
2. PC IP address = 192.168.0.10, and Gateway 2.0 IP address = 192.168.2.192
  - Both use different IP subnets (192.168.0.x vs 192.168.2.x) so you need to set the IP Gateway IP address in the Gateway 2.0 in order for the PC to communicate to the Gateway 2.0.
  - Use the instructions below.

Configuring Gateway 2.0 Web page settings for different IP subnets:  Setting IP Gateway IP address
1. Go to the System Manu > Remote Access and change to Yes, and save setting
2. Go to Firewall Menu > Wan to Local and change drop to accept and press save
3. Go to Interfaces Main > Main Ethernet:
  a. Set Mode to WAN
  b. Set WANLAN switchover to NO
  c. Set Allow ICMP to Yes --- allows pinging
  d. Set to static IP address
 e. Set Gateway 2.0 IP address, Subnet mask and gateway IP address
f Set DNS1 to your corporate (or use 8.8.8.8)
  g. Save settings
    - this will cause the Gateway 2.0 IP address to change in about a minute without you having to reboot or power cycle the Gateway 2.0.

These changes will require you to use port 1800 to access the Gateway 2.0 Web:
https://<Gateway 2.0 IP address>:1800
